Set was bought brand new at Ashley Furniture appx 1 1/2 years ago. It's in great condition....no stains, or tears. This comes from a smoke free home. I live in a condo on the 2nd floor. The couch had to be broken down to 2 pieces in order to make the turn in the stairs. I didn't take it apart or put it back together, but it looked fairly easy.
